Strike! Giant bowling ball smashes into Uxbridge to launch Hollywood Bowl
7 June 2025: Commuters in Uxbridge did a double take over the weekend as they walked past a car crushed beneath an enormous 2-metre bowling ball, weighing in at 1,700 kg. No, it’s not a film set - it’s how Hollywood Bowl announced its arrival to the area.
The dramatic stunt marks the opening of Hollywood Bowl Uxbridge, the latest addition to The Chimes Shopping Centre and a bold new player in the area’s growing leisure scene. With summer on the horizon and locals on the lookout for fresh entertainment, the timing couldn’t be better.
Inside, it’s just as much of a spectacle. The new centre boasts 22 ten-pin bowling lanes, four duckpin lanes (the fast-rising US mini-bowling trend that’s lighter, quicker, and brilliantly addictive), state-of-the-art amusements, and a slick American-style bar and diner serving burgers, shakes and cocktails with a side of nostalgia.
